How we make money
By Rent to Own Guide · Published · Updated · How we research
Our guides and tools are free. Some pages include affiliate links: if you follow one and buy a paid plan, the company may pay us a commission. It doesn't change your price. Every page with affiliate links says so in one line just before the first one, and those links are marked as sponsored for search engines.
Current affiliate relationships
- Foreclosure.com, a listing service for foreclosures, pre-foreclosures and other distressed properties. Links to it appear in our pre-foreclosure guides and carry our affiliate ID (rsp=3964) in the web address. If you buy a paid Foreclosure.com membership after following one, we may earn a commission. Its full access starts with a free 7-day preview that renews automatically at $39.80 per month unless you cancel, as its FAQ page described on Oct 19, 2026.
- RentToOwnHomes.cc, a listing site in the same affiliate program. Buttons to it appear on our state and city pages and the finding rent-to-own homes page, carry the same affiliate ID, and may earn us a commission if you buy its paid membership. Its “rent to own” listings are not confirmed offers: on Oct 19, 2026 its Texas “Rent to Own” count matched its pre-foreclosure count (RentToOwnHomes.cc), so our buttons call them “rent-to-own and distressed listings” and say they include pre-foreclosures.
Credit, debt and loan help
Our readiness check can offer free help with credit or debt, and our bad-credit guide offers a free credit consultation. If you ask for it, we pass your name, email and phone number to a credit repair, debt relief or lending partner who may contact you. We may be paid when we connect you with credit repair, debt relief or lending partners. Asking is always your choice, and nothing on this site requires it.
What we know and don't know about how this pays: a click doesn't pay us. We haven't confirmed whether free email alerts or the free 7-day preview earn us anything, so we don't count them as revenue. We count income only when the partner's own reports show it. Some pages show Foreclosure.com's alert sign-up form or listings, carrying our affiliate ID; what you enter there goes to Foreclosure.com, not to us.
We don't link Foreclosure.com's “rent to own” category. When we checked it on Oct 19, 2026, its national and Texas listings matched its pre-foreclosure records, so we couldn't present it as rent-to-own homes.
What we never accept money for
- Changing what a guide says, or ranking or recommending a company because it pays us.
- Selling or sharing the information you send through our follow-up form.
- Steering you toward loans, debt products, or credit repair. We don't promote these services.
